So, Brian, did you go yesterday? If so, how was the ice and did you catch anything?

Willard Reservoir / 12/28/2017 Anyone know how the ice is coming along?
« on: December 28, 2017, 11:03:09 PM »
Hello, I'm new to the area, but I have heard Willard is a good ice fishing lake. I live 50 minutes away or I'd check it out myself. Any ice info would be great! Thanks

Lake Erie / Re: EAST HARBOR ICE

I was out at east harbor today, 12/28, and the ice was 6". It was my first time there and the few guys I talked to said it was slow. I caught about 12-15 fish, mostly gills with a couple perch and a bass. I'd say things were slow, but I don't have any experience as a baseline to back that up. I'd hope things could be much better on future trips.

Hey OhioFisher,

I stopped by the lake today on my way back from Columbus and it doesn't look good. I think the ice is finished, but that is my opinion. You would need a ladder to get out on the ice at this point. Everywhere I looked, the ice along the shore was gone. Soft water for about 3 feet everywhere and the ice looked bad all over the lake. It was a dark color and very porus with open cracks everywhere.

Let me just say this.... cj was on fire today. About 120 crappie and half were keepers, 9.5 to 11.5". All returned to the lake to grow bigger. Half were on micro jigs and wax worm the rest were on small jigging rapala in silver/blue crome. They were all over the rapala fished bare, no tipping with waxies. I hate to see the ice go away. My best day ever on the ice! By the way, I didn't see anyone else out and the ice was still 7-8" and solid to the shore.

Started at 10:30. Drilled 3 holes. First hole held small gills, but they were eager to bite. Moved to hole #2 and got on nice crappie from 9.5 to 11". Went to hole #3 when #2 slowed down and found more crappie the same size. Fished 15 fow on the west side out of the wind. Saw two guys up at the north end but didn't see anyone else. Fished 3.5 hours and caught 50 fish with 27 keeper size that were released as they were caught to grow bigger. Action was very consistant the whole time I was there. I probably missed another 50 fish. Not my best effort setting the hook today, but it was fun feeding all the fish anyway. One of my best outings of the ice season.

Hey fshman,

I am going to be out tomorrow also. Hope to see you there. Give me a call if you find them before me. I will call you if I stumble onto them first. I hope to get there around 8am.

How deep did you find them? Were they suspended? Did you catch anything else? How thick was the ice? Nice fish, must have given you a good fight!

Kiser Lake State Park / Re: ICE?
« on: January 22, 2011, 10:56:10 PM »
I fished today, Saturday, 1/22 and the ice was 7" everywhere I went. Probably caught about 2 dozen gills. Most were around 7" with a few bigger and a few smaller. Saw fish in just about every hole. It started slow at first about 1pm, but things picked up as the day went on. They really turned on after 4pm. Early they wanted a size 14 orange/yellow with a spike, later they wanted a black size 14 with a wax worm. Not a lot of guys fishing where I was at. Most fish were suspending at about 6 to 7' in 10 fow.

Neither the Showdown Fishfinder nor the Auger are available so I removed them from the posting. However, ....

I have a 2 pack box of Reel Weeds that I have only used a couple of times. I like to move a lot when I am ice fishing so they are not conducive to my style. If you like to stay in one spot, then you will like Reel Weeds. I didn't really give them a chance to prove themselves.
Here is the web site http://www.reelweeds.com/Products/StructureonaString/tabid/126/Default.aspx
New $30 selling for $10.

I have a pair of hip waders that I only used once. Size 10
New $45 selling for $20.

I am not going to ship any items so you will have to pick them up. I live in Piqua, Ohio which is 20 miles north of Dayton on I-75. Also, due to bad experiences with check bouncers I will only accept cash. If you have any questions, please P.M. me or post your questions and I will try to answer them ASAP.

What a difference one day makes. I was at Kiser today and things were tough for everyone that I spoke with. I got about a dozen fish and most were small. Most of the locals that I talked to were struggling too. I tried shallow, 3 fow, to about 6 fow and never got anything going. Guys were talking about the past few days being more productive, but today was tough for everyone.
