Did not get rod holder. Great question. In my mind it's a tip up. But in ODNR mind it's a mystery.

That is what I thought. Simple idea less set up. I still like the Jawjacker for it setting the hook. I should be able to try it out on a dock soon, will follow with a product review.

Nice fish! I really think this lake is a sleeper. Can't wait to get my YAK on it.

The Jaw jacker was fun. It worked really good. Only problem was crawling through the railing to set it up and reel in fish. It would be great on open ice.

Has anybody seen or used one of these? Just ordered one to try out, neat concept. Maybe get to try it out this year. I guess shopping online is what we do when there is no ice. Thanks Scott www.firststrikefishing.com

6 inch auger should be fine, that's what I use on Erie.
Talk to locals and tackle shops, or the ice fish Minnesota forums. Shouldn't be much different than what we do here. Good luck

You are right on that g. It was nice to just get out and catch some, and I got a chance to try out my 4 year old new Jaw Jacker.

I hear you g. Took my son to Lima for baseball practice and went Lima lake. Ice was maybe 1.5" at the dock. Caught about 30 small crappie, and about 40 gills. Like you said they were engulfing the baits. All suspended over 8.5 ', caught on gold tungsten and wax worm.

Trust your senses, my pond had 3" last week, then we had the thaw. Went out tonite after work to check and it was maybe 2". What is weird is there is an open water area30x50ft. It has never frozen like this. I think the high winds might have kept it open, but it has been damn cold. Be safe.
