Findley State Park / Re: Any ice report on #1or#2
« on: January 27, 2011, 10:59:11 AM »
Thanks for the info.It is much appreciated.Lake Erie sounds great but is a little farther than I can do for a day trip. 175 miles to Findlay is really pushing it with gas at $3 a gallon.Any word on the walleye bite at any off the upground res up that way?

Findley State Park / Any ice report on #1or#2
« on: January 26, 2011, 10:45:54 PM »
Im hoping to come up from northern Ky this weekend.Anyone know how the ice is looking.I would love love to come up and do some perch fishing.I made it up up there a few times with the boat in the fall and did very well.We dont have those delicious critters down here.If Findlay isnt decent does anyone know how the lakes in Lima are looking? Ice in northern Ky is only 3 inches.Everytime it gets decent we have a day or two of 40 degrees and rain to screw it up.Any info would be appreciated.

Rocky Fork / Slow day on Sunday
« on: January 16, 2011, 09:23:29 PM »

4 hours of fishing and a total of 5 bites.Landed 2 nice crappie and a rather healthy white bass.Marked very few fish and the ones that were marked wernt to interested in hitting any color or size.Ice is getting better about 4 inches for the most part but a light of areas are only 2-3.Safe to walk on but watch where you start drilling.

Rocky Fork / Crappie on fire
« on: January 14, 2011, 09:37:18 PM »
The crappie bite at rocky fork is on fire right now but the ice questionable at best. All I can say is go deep.20-30 feet right on the bottom.Charturuse an hot pink plastics have been working well. When the ice has been weak I have been fishing of the docks at the marina.there are 6 or 7 of them so there is plenty of room for all.I plan on making the 75 journey again on Sunday and I will give an update when I have one.Good fishin' to all and be safe safe on the ice.

Thanks for the invite David but I have the family thing to do this weekend. If my work schedule allows I may be able to make another outing later on this week if the ice hold up.

Lima Lake / Hows the ice on lima?
« on: February 11, 2010, 08:11:41 PM »
Anyone been out?Im looking to come up on friday. Its been 2 weeks since ive been up there and last time it was a little rough. With all of the cold  Im sure it is thicker but I assume the snow may have made it a little tricky in places.I may have some good ice here in Northern KY by the end of next week if the forecast holds up.All of are lakes were wet here until earlier this week so we didnt get to much snow on them.We have about a foot of snow but only about 2 inches on the ice.Any info on lima or any of the lakes around there would be much appreciated.

Lima Lake / sunday bite
« on: February 01, 2010, 08:47:11 AM »
My son and I limited out on trout but that was about it.One dink bluegill in 5 hours other than that.We started out around 200 feet out on the ice for about 30 minutes then decided it would just be best to drill some holes off of the dock and fish off of it.The ice is a good 6 inches but extremely weathered and in rather poor condition. It was making ice like crazy but the exixting ice is very honeycombed and has stress cracks in it every couple of feet.A couple of times we took some steps in a different direction from where we were standing and we watched new cracks form under our feet.Makes you a little nervous when your out with your 14 old boy.Hopefully by later in the week there will be enough new ice to head back out on the lake again. The good part about it was that we had the entire lake to ourselves for most of the day!

« on: January 21, 2010, 10:07:22 PM »
Fished today from 1-6 not much action compared to last week.the bluegill bite was completly OFF!!! 1 little dink in 5 hours.I caught 1 trout lost 3 at the hole and had 4  more of them break me off at the hole.I donated a lot of ice jigs today.8 to be exact!!I hope there is still some good ice next weekend. The warming trend looks to be short lived. The ice varied from6-9 inches today in a relatively small area.Anyone go out early today?

Thanks for the update Russ.Im going to try to come up tomorrow if it isnt raining. Its supposed to rain hard down here all day but it doesnt look like it is supposed to rain up there til late in the day.If I make it up there it will probally be around noon before I can get there.I cant get on the road til around 9:00 after I get the kids off to school.Ill look for you if you are there.I drive a gold chevy cavalier with KY plates of course.Do you have a shanty or are you a bucket guy? Ill look for you if I can make it.Im about 90% sure that I should be there.Looks like you had about the same luck I had there last week! Thanks again for the info.

Lima Lake / ice thickness
« on: January 20, 2010, 12:54:29 PM »
Im hoping to come up from northern KY on thursday to Lima lake. Is the ice still solid.I was up there twice last week and did very well.I caught about fifty bluegill both times and limited out on some very nice trout both times (14-16 inches).I also caught a couple of decent perch.I can use Indian as plan B if neccecary but in 3 trips there this year I have caught a total of 12 bluegill and none were keepers.Ice is almost gone down here but I still have a major itch for the hardwater.Any help of info would be greatly appreciated before I make a needless 150 mile drive.

          Thanks for any help
