Regional general conditions reports / SW Ohio Ice Conditions
« on: January 30, 2022, 08:33:25 PM »
Fished a farm pond in SW Montgomery County (just west of Germantown) this afternoon that was just over an acre in size.  Had 4" of hard clear ice once we got out from the edge.  Only had 3" when I checked just out from the edge, another 10' out it went to 4" and stayed.  Less than 1" of snow on top.  We have no snow left on the ground as of this afternoon.  Our local ice won't survive the warm rain coming in, especially if we turn around and get 6" or more of snow of top of what ice that will be left.  Even though it's supposed to get cold Friday and Saturday, I don't think we'll be able to make up the lost ice with that much snow on it?  Time will tell, but looks like I'll need to get back north of I-70 for the rest of the winter...

Kiser Lake State Park / Bait Around Kiser
« on: January 09, 2014, 01:12:40 PM »
In the past, I've stopped by Crawdaddy's in New Carlise on my way up to Kiser.  I've tried calling them a couple times with no answer.  I'm coming up from the south and would hate to end up at Indian Lake to find "live" bait, not wax worms left over from the summer.  Anyone know if Crawdaddy's is still open and if they are carrying bait?  Any other suggestions on bait around Kiser?

Kiser Lake State Park / Tough Day
« on: January 27, 2013, 10:41:20 PM »
Fished Kiser from 12:30 to 5:30.  Lake seemed to be slow again, at least for my buddy and I.  I managed 5 gills between 7"-8", and a 9" perch.  My buddy also caught a couple keeper gills.  We also had a 3-4 short gills and several lookers.  Almost all the fish were caught between 4-5pm.  Spent a lot of time in the 9-9.5fow with just a couple lookers.  My buddy found these fish out in 10fow.  Ice was a solid 4-4.5", hope it holds up over the next couple days?

Don't know what's up with Kiser, she was really good to me back on the 5th, and more often than not in the past.  Friday was the first time I really struggled to put a mess together.  I'm going to give it another try tomorrow afternoon.  I'll have an old yellow Frabill ice shuttle, but more than likely be in a pop up blind once I find some fish.  I'll try and report tomorrow night.

Fished Kiser this afternoon, solid 4" of good clear ice all over the upper end, spudded all the way across and back.  Struggled with the gills, only managed a few nice ones in 9fow.  Marked several that would come in and look and go on their way.

Thanks all for the welcome.

The weather forecast keeps looking better for next week, just need to get this wind to lay down for a couple of these upcoming cold nights.

Awesome site, hate that I just found out about it this season.

I'm from SW Ohio, though I don't spend a lot of time ice fishing this area except for the rare few weeks we get ice on our local ponds.  I usually make the trek up to Kiser or Indian Lake.  I also spend a lot of time, on those Southern MI and NE Indiana Lakes.

Ohio is crazy, especially with the weather the last two seasons, I was ice fishing Kiser January 5th, and had my boat out on Caesar Creek on January 12th.

Keep the reports coming, hopefully we'll be on the ice the first of February.  I'll try and attach a picture of the fish from Kiser on the 5th.

Thanks,
John

Kiser Lake State Park / Kiser Ice???
« on: January 17, 2013, 02:00:27 PM »
Just wondering if Kiser is skimmed over?  Also wondering if Kiser lost all of it's ice last week, and/or if it happen to keep some of the old ice and refroze the edges yet?
