« on: February 15, 2014, 08:43:56 PM »
Fished today from 9:00 till 2:00 . Marked some nice schools that came through and didn't slow down !!! Did manage to pull 2 cats today one on a homemade jawjackers and a minnow and the other came on a good vibe that I thought was tangled so I set it down to jig the other rod and I looked at it about 20 seconds later and it was on . Just a plain gold vibe without being tipped ...... Fished out of grand view ramp off the point to the left in 14 fow

I don't know about the cordless drill ........ I took a dewalt 18 volt with 3 fully charged batteries and only got 3 holes drilled I have a 6 inch auger . Maybe my batteries are getting old but I drilled 3 holes at Berlin and it was about 12-13 inches . I was disappointed in the results I got from the drill . Went to moggy to test on Thursday and drilled a hole in 7 seconds it was 10-11 inches . Is the ice that much different in the 2 lakes ???? Thought I had it figured out and would not need to buy a gas auger !

General Discussion / Cordless drill adaptor for auger
« on: February 05, 2014, 07:57:46 PM »
So with the ice thick as heck .... I decided to make an adaptor for my 6 inch hand auger .  A piece of pipe inside , drilled hole for bolt , welded a 3/8 clue is pin on the end to attach to the drill ...... Tried it with my cheap craftsman 18 volt drill last week and it was a dud ! Brought home the 18  volt dewalt hammer drill . Went out to moggy and tried it again ..... 11 inches of ice ....... 7 seconds clean hole !!!! Need to pick up a dewalt !

General Discussion / Re: WTB ... Gas auger

Looking to spend less than 200 bucks . I agree with the comments , hand drilling through the ice we have now tears up the shoulders and elbows . After drilling 2 holes I'm done .

General Discussion / WTB ... Gas auger
« on: February 03, 2014, 10:07:10 PM »
:o.   Ok all I am new to ice fishing and found out at mosquito Sunday that a gas auger is almost as important as the rods !!! I did not have one and seen people using. Them and after getting 2 holes drilled by hand and I look over and the guy next to me has his drilled and is already fishing . So if anyone has one cheap enough like really cheap I am interested . If it needs some work that is fine. For I am mechanically inclined . Don't care what it looks like as it drills holes . You can PM me you post in this thread . Thanks all !!
