Lake Erie / catawba
« on: December 29, 2010, 09:39:44 PM »
The airboats are running & catahing fish. Doesn't look like they are going to get any rain tomorrow like they were supposed to, only warm temps. The airboats are trying to run the same paths to help smooth the ice out so people can get out on atvs & snowmobiles. Hope to make it up this weekend & give it a try.

Indian Lake / Dunns today
« on: December 18, 2010, 09:56:01 PM »
Fished Dunns this afternoon. Another dissapointing day. Saw 3 saugeyes caught at the opening into Dunns & 1 perch  at the back left side. I heard 6 or 8 saugeyes were caught in the morning, 10 - 12 people fished in the morning & about 24 people this afternoon. I did lose 1 & miss 1 on a 3/16 general lee (orange) vibe. So it goes, so it goes. Hopefully they will turn on somewhere soon.

Lake Erie / East Harbor
« on: December 12, 2010, 11:12:17 AM »
Some buddies caught 15 keeper gills yesterday. The first 100 ft. of ice from shore is sketchy. The Coast Guard had their air boat out and messed the ice up. People are catching a lot of little perch, crappies & gills at Clemmons Marine in Sandusky Bay.

« on: March 06, 2010, 10:49:37 PM »
fished dunns last night & tonight. skunked last night but saw 4 saugeyes & 1 white bass caught. the heron enjoyed the whitey. 1 saugeye weighed 4.75 lbs. tonight, caught 1 perch & 1 saugeye.know of 5 other saugeyes caught - no big ones, just good eaters. I heard the heron snatched another saugeye off the ice again tonight ( won't eat the shad ). saw a picture at Genes of a 28 in pike caught in the spillway today on a bass minnow.

« on: February 23, 2010, 09:35:56 PM »
went out of magee marsh sunday. went 5 miles & ice was still good. had 8 in. of ice at my holes. caught 2 & lost 2 at hole. between 5 of us, caught 17 between 2 & 7 lbs. no pics, camera is broken. there was open water 500 yards or so away. easily over 500 people fishing. fish hit green pimples, perch jigging rapalas, orange pimples, purple vibes & green castmaster. will hear later in week from my buddie that lives in marblehead on ice condition. will post what i hear. sounds like the weather should keep the ice. will let you know.

« on: February 13, 2010, 10:28:14 PM »
A buddy of mine from Marblehead went out of metzgers marsh this afternoon. Went 3 miles out & limited in 2 hrs. Big fish was 26.5". Ice about 8 inches thick. Only tricky part was getting snowmobile over riprap bank(enough snow so not too bad).

General Discussion / tired of slush
« on: February 13, 2010, 10:20:59 PM »
Getting tired of fishing in the slush. Wish the snow would melt & refreeze but that doesn't look like that's going to happen. Still caught 1 19.5" saugeye at dunns today. Be careful cause the snow is degrading the ice.  g

General Discussion / ice sled
« on: February 13, 2010, 12:08:47 PM »
I bought a MacCourt super tub at Lowes for $11.96 that is 36"x24"x8" that works great. it holds 2 buckets,my heater & auger. sure beats the prices they want for regular sleds & beats dragging my 2 man shack. It is big enough to sit in to keep your feet out of water or slush. My next project might be to see if I can mount a seat to it.  g
