General Discussion / Dream trips
« on: November 17, 2019, 04:14:29 PM »
What 3 trips would you like to do this season and what species would you target. My 3 trips that I am going to do is Lake Charlevoix, Mi. for walleye and perch, Saginaw Bay for walleyes and perch and Green Bay for walleyes, whitefish and perch. I have a few other trips that I would really love to do but these 3 are doable.

General Discussion / cooling temps
« on: August 29, 2019, 09:44:15 PM »
Glad the temps are finally cooling down and the humidity is falling too. The water temps should start falling and the fishing should improve, at least it will be more comfortable fishing. It's about time to get my 12 foot  aluminum boat out and hit some inland lakes. Good luck to all.

General Discussion / Sick of all the rain
« on: May 03, 2019, 04:01:01 PM »
Sick of all the rain we have been getting. Want to get out and fish but the weather has put a damper on it. Haven't even been to Erie yet, disgusting. Want to take the boat to Erie but don't want to drive it in the rain or sit in the trailer while it rains. One of these weekends it has to be nice.

Indian Lake / Indian 3-7-19
« on: March 08, 2019, 08:48:24 PM »
Was really hoping to get out for another go round. Unfortunately, my hopes were dashed. Checked Dunns, spud bar went through on 3 hits and it still had open water. Checked Paradise next. Same story, 3 hits and spud bar was through. There were 3 pressure cracks there too. Went to Blackhawk next. Just did a drive by and didn't spud it. Ice didn't look good so home I came. Can't wait till next year, hope it will be a good one. Did see 2 people barely out frome shore North of the Lakeview ramp.

Buckeye lake / Buckeye yesterday
« on: February 04, 2019, 04:19:12 PM »
Fished with Dave and Josh yesterday and had a fun day. Thank you Doug for putting us in a fishy area. Got there before daylight and fished til dark Josh schooled us using a deadstick with a minnow under a float.Josh caught over 10 keeper eyes, 5 crappies a couple nice gills and 6 catfish, Dave caught 2 keeper eyes and 1 crappie and I caught 4 keeper eyes and 2 catfish. We caught many short fish too. It was nice to finally catch some fish for a change. The morning bite was great until the sun came up and then it slowed down to a crawl. All in all, it was a great day with great friends.

Small Pond Reports / 1/22/19
« on: January 22, 2019, 07:27:52 PM »
Finally walked on water today on a farm pond. Cloudy colored ice that was 4 1/2 inches thick. Caught 5 keeper gills over 8 inches and around the same number of throwbacks. Fished in 10 feet of water and used a moon jig tipped with a waxie. Jigged 2 feet off the bottom and most came from the bottom. Fished maybe 1 1/2 hrs. Slow bite but was glad to get out at least once this season. Have to wait to see what the rain will do to the ice.

General Discussion / Thanks snow
« on: January 13, 2019, 07:05:57 PM »
The snow ruined any thing building ice. Measured 9 1/2 inches in my front yard and 7 1/2 inches in my backyard in Xenia. At least I got to take my granddaughter snowmobiling today. She's 15, so I let her drive it by herself. She had a blast and was proud of herself getting it up to 60. Rode at the neighbors farm in a flat bean field that had the rocks removed in the spring. The neighbor boy,who is 16, had a blast riding it too. All in all, since I can't ice fish in Ohio, it was a great day.

General Discussion / Hope dashed again
« on: January 10, 2019, 07:07:05 PM »
Finally getting temps to start building ice and here comes the snow. I wonder if we will ever get fishable ice this season. Oh well, it is what it is and no use dwelling on it. If we do get ice, I am definitely taking vacation days to make the most of it.
