Never really thought of it as one main type before. I would say I do fish more for pan fish than any other. But like many of you, I try for many different species throughout the year.

couldnt of said it better i target the big gills most too (which is weird as i rarely fish for them other than on the ice) but i fish for everything

General Discussion / Perch ice guides???

Ok guys does anyone know of any ice guides that do perch trips? I know there are quite a few that do the walleye trips but what about perch? I would like to take the wife and do this with her. Have taken her a couple times around home and she isn't sold yet.

Does anyone have any luck in the bays for good perch fishing? Have thought about fishing some of the bays for the past couple years but never have. Can you get into any of the big crappie like in the fall and spring around the boat docks (pilings)?

Any info on this would be great I am kind of putting together a ice fishing to do list if you will and trying to actually take some of the trips I have been wanting to do for awhile now

That is a great article. I try and target submerged cover realatively close to shore. If that is not productive i will move to drops and flats adjacent to those drops. I dont just fish a hole on a peice of cover i will drill a few holes all around the cover or down the edge of a drop or even across the edge of a drop (or point) out on to the flat if I can find a point I will work across it from flat to hump back to the opposite flat. Will start shallow and work my way deeper by usually 2ft incraments (roughly). I also try and scout prior to first freeze up.

Never used the spoons but i love the smaller jigs catch alot of fish on them especially big gills. not sure if dave has the super neon glow or the regular but both glow really well. i like the fact that you can get the glow in regualar green red or blue. Makes up the majority of my smaller jigs

No I completly agree these parks are open for ice fishing so they should allow us to use the parks for access. Half of the boat launch areas dont even get plowed and forget about parking on the shoulders with the snow banks from the rd plows. It can get very challenging if you dont have 4x4. This is exactly the reason I have been trying to figure out new ways to access lakes.
