once it gets closer to ice time i will try and contact a few of the park officers and see about using the parks for access.

Camping would be cool but was thinking more for just acess not sure if they would allow us to do stuff like this...alum and delaware both have shore acess to some decent spots. Not sure if we could get in contact w someone and figure this out. I don't see it being an issue especially if that part of the park is closed. There are some amazing humps and not to mention a rd bed that would be easy acess from alums campground boat launch.and im sure there are other lakes where this would apply also. Indian has alot of easy parking/walking thats part of the reason i think it gets alot of ice pressure.

General Discussion / camping/campgrounds for iceing????
« on: November 04, 2011, 01:46:28 PM »
Hey guys, I have been thinking that alot of the central ohio lakes dont have alot of bank acess for the ice fishermen and the ones that are available are not prime locations or are not safe. Would they allow us to use the campgrounds to acess the ice? And is there any campgrounds that have rentals (cabins, huts, etc) that you could rent during the winter. Would be pretty fun to get a couple buddies together and have a weekend of cold weather camping and hard water fun. Thanks for all the info guys.

the pole on top is my spud bar another of my creations  ;D. This actually looks very heavy but im guesseing that it only added around 20 lbs... I used 3/8 plywood for the top and 3/4 fro the frame. I didnt bolt anything to the sled but made it a very tight fit it can be easily removed if i am so inclined, the front half were the sled slopes out is all hollow on the bottom the hole that the vex sits on is actually access to storage underneath it. Im going to get a couple bungees throught the uprights to secure the auger and spud.

I have been checking out some of the jammin jigs stuff also.... I have alot of there tear drops (regular and glow) and they work great it just seems that I usually only get gills on htem but they definetly produce. i have tried some of the smaller jiggin raps with little success but I have a feeling that was just me.

What color of the swedish pimples are you useing turkey? I have heard they are really productive for crappie and eyes but have never used them.

hey guys first time back on here this year.  With the air starting to cool my frame of mind has started switching to dreams of hard water.  As such I have gotten some of the gear out, going to be helping my buddy doing some customization to the shanty and started doing checks and seeing what needs replaced.  Which brings me to my question. i primarily fish with tear drops and half moons and do really well on bluegill but I want to targert crappie and eyes more. Which jigs/baits should I get for this? I want to target in on indian as it seems to have the longest season and has always been kind of a nemises to me, but I plan to fish alum and delaware too and may make some other trips if the opportunity arises. So what are some good baits to get what sizes and colors. I have a vex and use of a shanty which all were aquired late last season so i am really getting seriose this year want to put some quality fish on the ice this year. thanks guys

is anyone goign sun?? I want to get out and want to hit some where new. The places I have been goign have been dead. If no one is goign would someone mind pointing me where to start? i know there are reefs and humps all over but I have no idea where they are. I really don't care what I catch just want to get something on the end of the line. Eyes or perch would be great but at this point anything will do. have a vex and shanty now so I am ready to go. Feel free to pm me.
