Anyone have any I to for ice at bucyrus #4 (outhwaite) or riley? Does Riley have perch? Just wondering wanting to give it a try sat but have no idea if the ice is any good. Plan on hitting one of my ponds around daylight but will prolly be there around 10 or so and fish till dark.Any reports would be very greatly appreciated.

I tried Saturday as well from around 1030 until 3-330 didn't do as good as everyone else got 1 perch and 1 gill. Not quite what I had hoped for. I tried everything and would get plenty of follows but no takers seems all they wanted from me was a dead stick. Oh well that's how I goes. I do agree this is a great place to fish.

Fished 3rd pull off at Long Island this morning. Decen ice 3-4" but be carefull we went toward north fork, there was another shanty out that way we fished closer to the docks. Spudded all the way and 3/4 of the way out I hit a patch of bad ice, less than an inch. Glad I was spurring or I would of been swimming. Just be carefull out there. Oh and by the way no fish.

Checked ice in a couple spots, didn't really get to fish. Ice was anywhere from 3.5-5": I went a good 200 yards out in the one cove. All the way to the mouth and there is a good channel that meets the mouth of the cove ice was almost a uniform 5". I'm headed to Indian/kiser tomorrow but plan on hitting it sun. I still haven't figured out how to pattern the crappie but I do get a few and they are nice usually slam the big gills too! I post a report when I fish it. Oh on a side note take a shanty. Wind was crazy today!!!

There on ice at Long Island!
My buddy caught a few bluegills today!
3" in spots, carry a spud one more day!
Will be locked up everywhere in a day or 2!
Please everyone check your own ice! Ice is going to be spotty bc some melted off and some held on Thru the storms. Please keep your spud ready and use it would hate to hear of ppl going thru. My guess would be by the weekend most of Indian should be ok but please check.

I believe you nailed it when you mentioned contrast and also uv. I believe to a certain depth uv is a huge factor. But I believe contrast at almost any depth is key! I have had more success in open water and ice with lures that have bold sharp contrasts as opposed to one solid color. I believe that proper proportion also plays a huge role in triggering strikes as well.

Dave I have been considering this for a cpl years now; I think the biggest issue will be playing with the settings to get it done correctly. I really like having GPS, and the capability to mark spots and try spots that I already marked durning soft water. Plus the navionics chip is awsome!

I'm really bummed that I haven't been able to make one yet, the new jobs schedule is super weird. I have personal days but am waiting on ice to burn them
