Ice Gear for Sale / Re: WTB OR Trade for a XI 9 20 Ducer
« on: December 09, 2017, 11:39:03 AM »
If either of you guys have the G2 model of the Helix 5 or 7. A great option for the ducer would be the new XI-9 1521. Its a chirp ducer and has got rave reviews so far.

It is not compatible with the first generation Helixes though.

Slabslayer

What unit Garmin do you have ? You probably have watched Garmin's videos on the use of Panoptix on the ice.

I might be selling my PS21 to upgrade to the PS22. But haven't made my mind up yet.

Anyway have enough use on it on the boat but only two weeks on ice. Only way I can describe it IMPRESSIVE

General Discussion / Amazes Me That This Site Is not More Popular
« on: December 08, 2017, 08:56:52 PM »
Good site easy to navigate  Good info and Friendly Users. I can't think of any reason why this site is not more popular.

I understand most normal people don't think much about ice fishing during the off season. Even the Ice Shanty chatter slows down. But still busy enough to reflect the number of diehards dedicated to hard water fishing.

Understand that this is a state specific site. Yet there are a lot of diehards in this state.

Will see if I can help improve the volume of traffic by mentioning it to the diehards I know. Personally while I do enjoy boat fishing on open water. Ice fishing will always be my favorite regardless of what time year it is.

To all the people that were interested in the Nils 8 inch . It has been sold. I guess it is standard operating procedure to wait until actual ice is here.

But not all think like that they prepare now . Once the ice is here they don't have to wait on anything.

When I was young did the same thing. Now I get ready middle of September.
If there is an ice season I want to take full advantage of it.

650.00 for the unit , ice ducer and the Lake Vu HD ultra chip with FHS pro . The chip covers the entire United States.  Everything to make this upcoming ice season a banner year. The chip has great coverage for Ohio.

Unit is one year old and was used last fall and our two week ice season last year. It is Panoptix capable. Can demonstrate to prospective buyer how important this is.

Reason for selling is I went to a nine  inch  unit this year. It has a crystal clear bright touch screen and is extremely easy to learn to operate.

I still have a bunch of stuff left over from garage sale. Combos for ice fishing rods and reels. Priced as low as 3.00 to as high as 70.00.

If you need something text or call me at 330-272-7925. I am located fairly close to Berlin Lake in Northeast Ohio.

IceBucket John- Cmon the day I quit ice fishing is the day they will be planting me. Besides I need to get out with you on the ice. Just paring back some of over buying over the years.

Product and Tackle Reviews / Re: kahtoola Micro Spikes
« on: October 08, 2017, 09:16:05 AM »
My experience with Kahtoola spikes was limited to one year. They worked great for that one year. I left them installed on my size 12 Mickey Mouse boots.

While prepping for last years ice season. I noticed the straps had completely rotted. Basically came apart in my hand. To the company's credit when I informed them . They immediately shipped a replacement pair free of charge.

I sold that pair and went with installing snowmobile track studs in bottom of my Mickey's. Due to brief usage with the studs last year. I can't comment on them just yet.

I hope to make it down there this year. I don't participate in tourneys but wouldn't mind watching others that do . Unless you guys object to someone fishing there with tournament underway.

Sled Help / My Sled
« on: September 18, 2017, 06:39:03 PM »

My version of Smitty sled. Non-Take down but fits in my Honda Pilot. Push or pull and can carry plenty of gear. I prefer pop ups to pullovers so this design works for me.

Also installed water skis  instead of snow skis. Others have argued against this
insist snow skis better. I do what my 70 year old back tells me.
