Ice Gear for Sale / Re: Ice Fishing Garage Sale Tons of Equipment
« on: September 18, 2017, 04:50:08 PM »
Forgot to add . Can do a short free seminar prior to garage sale. The seminar would be on Garmin's Panoptix and how to use on the ice.

I do not work for or have any connection to Garmin. I do not have any Panoptix
equipment for sale as I am not a dealer. Just trying to share some good info .

If at least 6 persons are interested will get it done. Can let me know by replying here . Unless we get a helluva early ice season. Demo will be done using the unit I  will be .using this year. By using its demo mode.

This is a not miss if you ice fish. 3 augers 1 Brand new ION 8 inch , Nilsmaster 8 inch and a 4 inch lazer strikemaster, . Two GPS/FF units. Rod reels and combos. Pinmins some custom made

One fishfinder/gps unit Humminbird 798 HD with Quadrabeam Transducer set up on Milk crate - 325.00

Another fish finder/gps Garmin721 sx Gpsmap , Panoptix capable , comes with garmin ice ducer, touch 7 inch screen. Used during 2-week ice season last year. I went to a nine inch screen for this year. 550.00

Do yourself a favor and google panoptix ice fishing. See what you are missing

Don't care how much you spend on flasher type FF either of these will outperform and do more than any flasher unit made today.

Also customized sleds with water skis or snow skis attached for hauling equipment on ice.

Planning on having garage sale mid October. But will sell anything starting now. I am located in Northeast Ohio in Berlin Center Ohio. For direction or questions call 330-272-7925 or text.

Bait and Tackle stores / Re: A&C Fish N Game, Berlin Lake
« on: December 09, 2013, 06:13:50 PM »
I can attest to attest to Chuck trying to stay open every day. But he has to make a living. The ignorant ***hole who was all about bashing him has never ran a baitshop. I can guarantee that.

Chuck also wholesales bait and this does not permit him to be open like he used to be.

Most bait shops close the entire winter. At least Chuck is trying to help us ice fishermen. Long time ago Chuck asked me for advice on opening a bait shop as I was a former owner/operator. My advice for him was to forget it. Very little money and very little appreciation. Thankfully he ignored my advice and I for one realize the small reward he is getting.

Any of us oldtimers can tell others how many bait shops there used to be
But the facts are there are getting to be fewer and fewer. Wonder why ????

General Discussion / Re: Salmo Chubby Darter?
« on: January 21, 2011, 08:24:00 PM »
I have and use the Salmo Chubby Darter. I have a few in all sizes. No great luck on them yet mostly 12inch and under walleyes and a few dink crappies.
To be fair I haven't spent a whole lot of time using them.

By the way last that I knew they were all made in Poland. Hopefully that has not changed. China made stuff never exhibits any quality.

General Discussion / Re: Vibe
« on: January 21, 2011, 08:16:43 PM »
A lot of guys that do good on Vibes and Heddon sonars are " force " feeding them. Which is a polite term for snagging. Observation will give you an idea just as to how a particular fisherman is working his vertical bait. Real long aggressive snaps upwards on the rod means that they are relying on snagging one.

That being said there are lots of walleyes caught legally on these vertical jigging baits. If you have caught a few crappie on them you are doing something right. Perhaps your location isn't productive for walleyes. If you see another fisherman using sonars with 12" to 24 " medium or slow upsweep. He is probably doing it right.

If he has a few laying on the ice ask him to show you how to work them. Make sure he knows you aren't going to set up on his fish. Though he may invite you to join in with some first hand schooling.

I don't often fish for walleye but a vibe is one of my preferred lures when I do. In my experience they take it on the drop or pause. Watch your line closely if it zigs to either side or goes slightly slack for no reason set the hook. Some times after a pause you will feel extra weight as he has taken it on the pause portion of your cycle. Sounds a lot harder than it actually is. I have taught rank beginners out on the ice in less than 20 minutes.

General Discussion / Re: Vexilar FL-22 VS. Marcum LX-5
« on: November 24, 2010, 10:43:17 AM »
From what I understand if you want an FL-22 you will have to wait. I tried to get one back in Sept. I was told mid Oct by all the suppliers. By mid Oct. I was told they will be available mid Dec.

Far as I am concerned they can keep it until next year.
