« on: January 31, 2022, 02:21:12 PM »
I forgot to print out the online tournament forum but thought everyone would still like to see this perch. I caught it at Indian Lake Friday. Caught it on a perch colored Vibee.

Alum Creek / Alum 2/4/21
« on: February 04, 2021, 01:57:38 PM »
Drove around south section of Alum today. Lot of open water on the lake. There were about 5 guys fishing the bay west of Galena ramp. Didn't stay long enough to see if they were catching anything. Didn't see anyone else fishing anywhere except below the dam.

General Discussion / Is this thing working?
« on: July 17, 2019, 02:43:02 PM »
Just checking to see if this site is still working. LOL. With 90 degrees plus heat I can see why its a little slow in here. I did buy a portable heater the other day at a garage sale for $5. Came with a leather case, half filled bottle of propane, stand and heater. Perfect size for a shanty.

General Discussion / St Clair
« on: March 11, 2019, 03:11:45 PM »
Four of us went to St Clair over the weekend. We fished at Selfridge. It was slow Friday and Saturday. We ended up with about 15-20 keeper perch, with the biggest around 12.5". Water was a little murky but some places you could still see 6-7 feet. Untipped beaded spoons worked best. I fished a spear hole around 2x3' and could see the perch but we just couldnt get them to bite. I saw at least 4 of them over 14"and one bigger than that. They would come by in schools of 8-10 fish but most would not even look at our baits. We tried minnows, wax worms, vibees, spikes, jigs and tungsten jigs. They just weren't interested. Most of the ones we cleaned had eggs. Did see a few bass with 3 of them over 5 lbs and one easily over 7. I know the watermakes them look bigger but I compensated for that. Surprisingly we didnt see any pike, sturgeon or muskies or many gills. Ice was a good clear hard ice that was over 1' thick everywhere we fished. And we fished at all depths with the best luck around 7-8'. I don't see that ice going anywhere for a week or two. I'm done for the year. Put my ice gear away till next year.

General Discussion / Indian lake parking
« on: January 29, 2019, 10:50:59 AM »
I fished Blackhawk last Saturday without a problem. I want to fish Long Island Friday but I'm getting reports that people are getting ticketed for parking near the bridge on both sides of the road. I know this has been beaten to death just trying to avoid a ticket. The guy working at pro bass shop said he heard people were getting towed at Long Island. Any new information? Thanks.

Indian Lake / Indian Lake parking
« on: December 28, 2017, 06:45:30 AM »
Buddy of mine drove by Long Island yesterday and he said that by the bridge where everyone parks has new NO PARKING signs on it. I know they usually have a few signs up but he said they are posted all over. I asked a warden couple years ago and he said we could park there. This happens every year. I think its the locals that are putting the signs up, in a way I can't blame them with all the trash that is left in the parking lot.

Lake Erie / 14 lber on Erie Sunday
« on: March 11, 2015, 06:31:43 AM »
6 of us went o Erie on Sunday. Went out by A can. Started out slow and we had to move three times until we found them. We ended up with 12 keeper eyes. Everyone at least caught one. We had 6 Fish Ohios. I caught my personal best, a 14 lber. She was a hog. Most were caught on swedish pimples, gold or silver. Great day to be on the ice but I think that wil be my last trip out this year.

Headed to Camp Perry on Sunday, first time there this year. Any tips on baits, depth or how far to go will really be helpful. We will be on a snowmobile.

General Discussion / Vex FL-12 transducer
« on: January 12, 2015, 12:36:51 PM »
My transducer on my FL-12 quit working. I think it's right where the cable goes into the transducer. I can wriggle it and it will work and if I prop it up it will work. Anyways I am going to order a new transducer from Vexilar. Are they all the same or are some 19 degrees and some 12? I usually fish Indian where the depth is very seldom over 6' so I'm assuming I should go with the 12 degree transducer. Any info would help.

Buckeye lake / Buckeye ice
« on: February 26, 2014, 07:50:01 AM »
Drove by Buckeye yesterday. Went by the North shore and it was open a long ways from the boat ramp. Drove over to Fairfield beach and where I was fishing Saturday it was wide open. Almost all the way to the bog and islands. With this cold snap be careful if on the ice. I can see a skim ice forming on the open water making it  look like safe ice. Off to the right of Fairfield it looked safe but be sure to bring a spud bar. I walked out about 10 yards from Fairfield and heard a crack. Since I was alone I worked my way back.

General Discussion / Wax and spikes
« on: January 29, 2014, 02:49:29 PM »
What can I put in with my wax worms and spikes to keep them fattened up? I had a container of waxies for a week or two and they all weren't as plumb as they were.

Anyone know where I can find some 6" mora auger blades in the Columbus area? Checked Cabelas and they did not have any.
