Bait and Tackle stores / One Stop Bait & Tackle at Ladue
« on: December 29, 2010, 02:25:07 PM »
Jim Tunder owns & runs 1-Stop Bait & Tackle on the Corner of St Rt 44 and Washington St., next to Ladue Reservoir.

Nice, knowledgable outdoosman, good service, live bait.

Many of the fisherman hitting Moquito, Ladue, Punderson, Bear Lakes and the Steelhead Fisherman patronize his shop.

If you're in the area, stop by and introduce yourself.  He'd be glad to share stories, yarns, experiences & knowledge.

General Discussion / Re: Nimisila Friday 12/31

Thanks snag for the update & report.

I've decided to nix nimmy on Friday 12/31 and hit Turkeyfoot instead. (The upcoming warm weather and fog conditions have me skeptical of going to Nimmy).

It's been a handful of years since I was on Turkeyfoot, but gonna try to target the bull, red-ear gills and perch.

Shanty Help / Re: Looking for Clam Nanook
« on: December 29, 2010, 09:32:28 AM »
You'll enjoy the Clam Nanook whether you're fishing solo or with a partner. It's not heavy in comparison to other makes & models.

It won't wear you out loading/unloading along with hauling it to & from your ice spots.

It offers plenty of elbow room, especially if you're clausterphobic like me.

Let me know of any modifications, improvements etc.

Please note: While I can post general information of lakes within the Upper Cuyahoga River Watershed (Geauga, Portage & Summit Counties), I AM OFFICIALLY PROHIBITTED FROM STATING ICE CONDITIONS... WHETHER SAFE OR UNSAFE.

I'LL CONTINUE TO POST FIELD OBSERVATIONS OF ICE FISHING ACTIVITY AND CATCH RESULTS WITHIN MY CAPACITY AS A CITY OF AKRON WATERSHED RANGER, BUT PLEASE REALIZE I AM NOT, CANNOT, NOR WILL NOT REPORT THE ACTUAL SAFE OR UNSAFE ICE CONDITIONS.

Shanty Help / Re: RUNNERS FOR SHANTY
« on: December 29, 2010, 07:05:20 AM »
Stopped off at Universal Plastics on Arlington Rd in Akron yesterday, 12/28/2010.  Nice service, but the estimate for 2 runners ($31 each) was a little pricey for me. My original dimensions were 3/8"x4"x7ft.   He adjusted the dimensions to 1/4" thickness and the estimate was reduced to $21 each...still a little costly.....

....Undecided at this point if I should get it from them or simply go to the nearest Goodwill or Salvation Army to purchase a used a set of skis.
