General Discussion / Re: Auger blade sharpening?
« on: February 12, 2014, 09:02:51 AM »
Best thing  would be to call him. I am sure  he can do them Mine come back seemingly sharper than new!!!

Tom,
I am sure they would be good and sharp but I was referring to how they drilled after some use and how they hold that edge. if not done exactly right, they may have a great edge and cut great at first and then really decline sooner than later. Just wanted a report after some use.

Tom,
Let me know how it goes. Said he could do my back up set for my lazer mag gas auger.
Mogadore bait said they could not do the lazer mag blades so I wanted to send mine out to him as well. Also anglers point on Lake St. Clair said they could do mine. Was planning to drop them there  if I get up there again this year.

Mogadore bait did a great job on mine. I think it ended up costing me about 15 bucks. I talked to several people who did not want to touch them. I just mailed them in and they were back at my house in less than a week.
Anglers point on lake saint clair does a mail in sharpening service too. So far my buddy borrowed my auger and said he drilled about 30 holes and I had it in my pond today and cut another 6 and the edge has been cutting great!!

Ice Gear for Sale / Re: ice gear wanted!!!
« on: February 06, 2014, 01:23:29 PM »
Thanks good to know because it runs like a top.  I added the depth finder on it that hooks into the battery.  Love my FL18 too but was thinking Marcum with a camera.  Talked to KPI and he said Crane Creek or Catawba this weekend.

Not me buddy. Travel looking tough and was out yesterday. Thinking he might be going but I have one day of work one family day.

Par for the course this year up there has been dink perch, if that is what you are chasing (meaning Gino's area) You may get a few keepers but nothing to make you want to go back the next day. JMO

Ice Gear for Sale / Re: ice gear wanted!!!

I'm in no hurry to sell and it runs like a top.  I would use the money to upgrade to a marcum for fl 18

Jim,
Are you making the switch and saying you are looking for a marcum or telling him to save up for a marcum??? I would research heavily before making the switch. I know there are several threads like this one going around on a few sites recently. looks like a quality control issue or just plain lack of reliability from them. Not trying to kill a sale but don't want you to have issues either. ER

Lake Erie / Re: Area east of Catawba

Totally agree.....One day ice will be there next it will be undercut, even in weather like this. Plenty of "good" areas to fish west of there that are much safer.

We were out on the 5th and can tell you travel is going to be tough if you do not have a snow mobile or chains on a quad, lots of snow all over right now

This one went 29 inches and weighed 11 1/2 pounds on an Ottawa County certified scale. Came on a F/T Jigging Rap during today's storm. Shanty was shaking like an s.o.b. from the wind!! Tape did not line up perfect but I guess that could happen in the fierce wind. Thanks to my bro for the perfect gaff job to slink it right through the hole!

On Erie eyes try a slow lift to get them to follow and also a twitching of the rod left to right will trigger a strike.
