Kiser Lake State Park / Re: Kiser is finally icing over
« on: January 02, 2013, 09:04:30 PM »
I have been wanting to get out to Kiser lately but I have had some bad news with my mothers health and have not been able to make it back out. If anyone does any good let me know. I might be able to squeeze a little fishin in soon.

Me and my son just got back from CJ, and there were white caps on the main lake. we fished the marina. we marked a few fish with a catch of 5 gills, and 2 crappie none were keepers. There was some ice forming in the corners of the marina.

All, I just came back from Kiser, and there are some open spots here and there. I don't think it will be ready to fish until sometime mid week.

I fish the Maumee on a regular basis and the braided line SUCKS. I wish that they would ban that stuff in the rivers.

Yeah I usually take 2 or 3 buddies but then we always fight over who is going to set in the front of the boat. It is a deadly technique when fishing for crappies.

Does anyone know if spider rigging for crappie is legal in ohio? I know that you can have 2 poles, but I am not real clear on spider rigging. Any help would be appreciated.

This may be a bold statement but over the past 8 years I think the lakes fish population has dropped off greatly. I fish the lake on a regular basis but have noticed that it is getting harder to catch the quality of fish I was used to 8 years ago. I used to have days with 200 crappie, and 1/2 of those were 11". Those days are gone! If anyone else has this thought get with me I would like to hear different opinions. Maybe there is something that can be done. Like removing the beaver dams, and instilling better limits. As well as adding structure. Or I could be way off on all of this?

Kiser Lake State Park / Almost Safe Enough
« on: January 16, 2012, 08:16:25 PM »
I stopped by the lake this evening after work, there was 2" of ice but I did not feel safe. The rain will probably screw it up. I will keep posted.

I have a 16' Alum boat with a pretty good open space to carry stuff, all though I don't know how many bricks would be considered safe. But I will help where needed.
