« on: November 20, 2011, 08:33:44 AM »
I recently had an email from someone asking how to approach a new lake. I did something on this topic a while back but I went back and looked at what I wrote. I think there is some really good info in there so I thought I would share it with everyone. Also if you have some other tips or adivce on things you do I would love to hear them.

General Discussion / Marcum LX-7
« on: October 12, 2011, 10:15:36 AM »
Before I even say anything I own a Vex and have used them for a long time. But this caught my eye yesterday, I got a disk in the mail from MarCum. On that disk was some info on a brand new piece of ice fishing goodness. I have yet to see the unit in person or play with it. But from the sounds of it this might be a great addition to the great debate that is what is the best electrics for ice fishing.

These are two things that jumped out at me when I was reading up on this unit.
• Multi-Dimensional Sonar Display gives user maximum flexibility and the broadest underwater perspective. LCD windows include “water column vertical,” vertical zoom, flasher-dial and traditional widescreen graph displays.

• Industry-exclusive Sonar Footprint technology displays a 3-dimensional scan area of bottom coverage at any depth, with either 8o or 20o transducer cone angles (ex: 20o – 32-ft depth – 11.3 ft ‘footprint diameter’).

Whats great and something I have always respected is that Marcum's products are made in the USA.

So what do you guys think?

General Discussion / Thought I would share some things I wrote
« on: October 04, 2011, 10:57:12 PM »
I have been skimming the threads on the boards for the last few days and never really saw much talk about tungsten jigs or even plastics. Do you guys use these down that way. The rumor mill in the industry is that some big boys are finally going to get in on the tungsten jig thing this winter. Plastics wise there really only three companies that are doing these right for ice fishing with me favoring my friends over at J and S for sunfish and crappies, and Little Atom for perch.

I wrote some things last winter about these here are some links to them.Check them out if you have questions on anything let me know.
