It was a damp day with a good early bite. Contestants were Ron Isher, Larry Davis, Josh (JustReeleyez), Rick (Fish'n'buddy), Rusty, Dave, Darris Green, and myself. Rick won big fish with a catfish, Ron won with saugeye, and Josh was the crappie king today with five fish weighing a total of 3.78 pounds.

General Discussion / On tour
« on: August 26, 2018, 08:28:39 PM »
I'm taking the wilcraft on tour around the state as time allows. I was set up at Mike's bait shop today just letting people look it over and ask questions. Things went really smooth. I will hopefully be heading to alum creek marina next weekend. Sorry but it won't be launched I will be on the left as you head in. Stop by and check it out on Monday.

General Discussion / Trip

I'm going to head out in the morning with Ryan to get the Wilcraft. I must be insane, I feel like a child at Christmas. I've woke up nights thinking it's all a dream. I guess I'll believe it when it goes in the trailer. It will be great having Ryan with me, helping with the drive and keeping me sane. I'll post pictures when it gets picked up and maybe a couple on the way back. He suggested we make a stop by vexilar on the way back since it's nearby.

Fished long pond from 12:30-4:00. Was on 4-5" of clear ice in 3.4' of water. Used short schoolie with small lead panfish jig tipped with a waxie.

Took a ride up to check things out today. Saw one vehicle at Long Island first pull off, second pull there wasn't anything, but at the bridge I saw three vehicles. I didn't walk out because I had a brain freeze and didn't take my boots. Saw people on the long pond side fishing right behind the houses. There was open water around the bridge. If you go tomorrow please use a spud and wear spikes. Did use a spud at Blackhawk off the docks, spud went through with four hits. My bar is light so it takes more strikes.

Inventions / Nils with clam plate
« on: February 02, 2018, 08:29:55 PM »
I've been running a 6" lazer but have a couple nils. The 6" will hook right up to the adapter that I got from eBay. The 8" has a T where the hand crank is attached with the handle going through the T. I cut the T off leaving me room to reattach with a metal tube. The Clam plate adapter slides right over the auger shaft and can be bolted to the adapter. Hope this helps if someone else has the same issue.

Pro's Pointers / Measure
« on: January 20, 2018, 09:36:48 PM »
Here's what I use for a cheap, easy and light weight measure. Get a tape measure from the sewing department. Most of them are waterproof because they have a coating on them. They are usually 36" and you can put it in a inside coat pocket. They weigh less than a jigging rap.

I got a text from the guy that was recovering my shappell rover. He said it was ready for me. Didn't have to replace all the material. Looks amazing and when he replaced the windows that were black from age. The ones he put in are huge. I already put it back on the tub. No more trying to drag the heavy two man.

Indian Lake / Saturday 30th
« on: December 30, 2017, 08:09:53 PM »
Went to Indian today. Fished straight out from the ramp by where pads are in the summer. Had a guy from Toledo area who has never done it before there. Showed him fish on the vexilar. He paid attention while I got the gill to bite. They had a hut but no heat so I gave them a extra lantern I had. Brought home a 9” perch and some gills.
