Looks like I need to move to Southern Ohio.... Had 3 to 5" of ice last weekend before warm up and then temperatures dropped; looking forward to good ice finally on bigger lakes with upcoming single digit highs and negative lows BUT.... now we're getting 8 to 9" of snow today and tonight. Won't make much ice with that much insulation.
Fished a private close to my house today from 10:30 to 2:30. 3 to 5" of ice. Fished in 13' of water. Water stained. Caught 40 gills and kept 31, 7-1/2 to 9-1/2". Lost 3 nice fish on 2# test, not sure what they were but I think bass. Caught most of the fish on medium yellow green tear drop with double flutter blades with waxies. Through out the column from on the bottom to 3' deep. Nice day to be on the ice. Snow turned to water by the time I came off.
Just got 8.5" of snow over last few days. Not Good on top of the ice. Weather calling for 40's Thursday & Friday with rain Thursday, Friday, Saturday & heavy rain on Sunday.... So much for much chance to get out this weekend. At least will get snow off the ice. Was hoping to hit Nettle Lake for Crappie. McKarn & Barton Lakes were wide open last week.
Haven't heard any ice reports for my area around Williams County. Checked my pond last evening and only 2 - 2 1/2" of ice. Snow cover over the last week has slowed ice making. Anyone else have reports for NW Ohio?
