Stopped by to check today. Public access ramp is part way under water and thin ice from the rain. Edges are sketchy.
Will be heading out in the morning after daylight to check closer and fish(I hope ice is safe) for crappie and catfish.

Will be heading to Nettle Lake here in NW Ohio in the morning. Stopped by on the way back from Little Long. A little interesting just to get out on the public access dock as the first part was under water(and thin ice) from all the rain. Did spud off the dock and found 4" of ice. Will be headed out in the morning after it gets light out so I can read the ice. Will be going with a buddy and will have spud, icepicks, throw rope and flotation suit on. Headed out after crappie and catfish.
Remember: NO ICE IS SAFE ICE.....
Spud your way out, have all your safety gear and go with a buddy!!!!!!!
Will report on ice conditions tomorrow when I return.
Probably won't have good ice by next weekend with more warm up and rain on the way..

Based on the ice I was on over the weekend, I think I will still have safe ice this weekend in the NW corner.

I'm running a DeWalt 20 volt MAX LI-Ion drill, Clam Auger Plate and Lazer 6" Auger. Drills like a dream. 70 + holes thru 5" of ice on one battery. Li-Ion batteries are the best; they don't lose power just setting in the cold and provide full power until dead. I keep my batteries in a small insulated lunch bag on the ice(Thanks for the tip, Ryan Kerns). With Ni-cad batteries; they slowly start to lose their charge and begin to lose charge just sitting out in the cold.
