I actually could have beat you to the first fish post this year except I forgot to download the form before I left for Michigan.  But I think yours was bigger than anything I caught Thursday. Lol. You win again...

Ice Safety!!! / Re: 2020 Ice Safety Submission Contest
« on: December 12, 2020, 05:48:32 AM »
My favorite is when I see or hear about people walking out on the ice and bouncing up and down on it near the bank to test it. Had a guy tell me if it doesn't make noise when you do that it should be good...
ALWAYS use a spud bar!  All the other safety equipment is great, but I prefer never to have to use it.
I'd rather stay on top of the ice. Lol. Testing the ice as I go out has kept me dry so far.
And cleats or spikes on your boots. They say more people get hurt by falls on the ice than going thru.
Stay safe out there.

Ya their plastics look pretty good, but they could use a better color selection. If they are taking requests or suggestions, orange and blood red are 2 of my favorite winter colors...

Yah I never got out once in Ohio. I'm in about the same boat as you Joel. Need some decent ice to get to my good spots and at 250 lbs I am not going out on 2 1/2 inches. If my butt hole is puckered up the whole time it really isn't that much fun. Lol. Did make a couple Michigan trips but really love fishing Indian and it's disappointing not getting on there. Did get the boat out yesterday! Got 27 keeper crappie using ice gear.  :D

2020/2021 On-line Tournament! / Portage lake, Michigan perch
« on: February 17, 2020, 08:17:49 PM »
Remembered to take my form with me this trip...
Perch were pretty much all we caught. Lots of little ones but got enough good ones for a few meals. Fun trip. Good just to get out on the ice. Not sure if I'll make another trip up or if I'm done for the year. But I got my entry in...

I've got at least one entry coming. My second trip up north but I also forgot my form the first time. Headed out to the lake now. Well see if I can catch something bigger today

I'm up in Michigan on 6-10 inches right now.  Fishing isn't great but we're getting some nice perch. Hope to do better today when it's not blowing 35 mph. Get up here boys...

Indian Lake / Re: Indian
« on: January 23, 2020, 07:06:50 PM »
Saw a picture of several trucks parked at the first pull off but I was told it was less than 2 1/2 inches as of yesterday.  That's second or third hand info but talked me out of trying it. With the rain and warmer temps I don't think it's gonna matter. Guess another trip to Michigan is in my future... don't think it's gonna happen around here.

I've never caught a lot of good size gills either place. There's definitely more gills at cj but most are small. Had been doing pretty well at rocky fork for crappie but it's slowed down the last couple trips. I may go try it Sunday if the weather is decent.
