So...
Have your wives gone out on the ice with you? Did they like it? How did you entice them onto the ice? (keep it clean!) Do any of your wives come out regularly? Have you ever been out fished by your wife?
Just wondering....

Hi All,
So I ordered the attenuator for my FL-8 (So I can fish shallow water) on Monday. It shipped the same day from PA and will be here tomorrow (Wednesday). I paid standard shipping (5-7 business days) and it's coming 1st class. 1st time I've ordered from them and I'm very happy with the turnaround/low shipping cost.....kudo's...

Hi All,
Science bit: ice melts quicker than water freezes due to ice having a higher thermal conductivity. This results in ice absorbing latent heat to change its state (from ice to water) at a quicker rate than water gives up latent heat to change its state from water to ice.
So, my question is will the highs above freezing and the lows below freezing this week result in ice melt? I'm seeing average temperatures right around 32F all week at Buckeye Lake. Since ice melts faster than it freezes this would suggest some ice melt. Another variable is how long the temperature is above freezing vs below freezing. If the temperature is above freezing for only a few hours but below freezing for most of the day then we should be ok.
From experience what does everyone usually experience? Science is one thing but with so many variables in play the actual conditions may be different.....
Any thoughts greatly appreciated.....

Lake is locked in. Didn't fish, but ran into some guys at Cheshire Road market. Pockets ice is 6",One of the guys had gone onto the main lake and the ice is 3". Catch is slower (fish haven't schooled yet). Went to the docks and they are locked in but wet ice at the ends of the pontoons (bouncing). Not the best report, but could be useful......

Hi All,
Does anyone know what causes the ice to make a "glug" sound every once in a while? Is it something I should be worried about?
Thanks in advance.....

Hi Guys,
I have a 6" auger that is hooked up to an 18v battery drill via an adapter with safety lanyard. Today, when I tried to drill holes with it it "danced" all over the ice. The only way I could get it to drill a hole was to chip a pilot hole with my chisel and then use the auger to finish it off....
Any ideas what could be causing the auger to "dance"

All,
I'm thinking that unless we get some strange "Day After Tomorrow" type weather in the next couple of days we are not going to see a lot of ice this weekend. A dock tournament on Saturday might be more realistic.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Maybe a dumb question but does anyone have a recommendation on a bait bucket for use on the ice? I've just realized that the bucket I have (the ones with the red top) will spill water everywhere if I put it on my sled and pull it up hill and down dale. I've seen an 8qt frabil bait bucket that looks like a cooler with a sealable top.
Any thoughts/suggestions.....I may be overthinking this...

Hi All,
Just an fyi that the docks and pontoons are coming out at O’Shaughnessy Reservoir (Home Road & Riverside). The crane has been there for a couple of days and most of the sections are now on the car park.
