General Discussion / December 9th Dock Tournament Inquiry
« on: November 27, 2017, 06:02:37 PM »
Many members have expressed an interest in changing the time in order to take advantage of peak fishing conditions. There have also been suggestions that mixing in another venue would be nice. Let me know what you think on the matter. We won't be able to please everyone, but I will work to meet the wishes of the majority.

Alum Creek has always been a good location due to the fact that it is situated nearest the geographic center of the state. Moving to the Southwestern or Northeastern Region may be exclusionary to some. I will travel either direction as long as I get to meet up with you guys and fish, but we need a general consensus from the whole of our membership. Many of us, including myself, travel well over an hour to reach Alum Creek each weekend. I see where you're coming from, and I appreciate your position.

Again, I'm only looking at one date right now. It could be that we would visit Alum Creek every other weekend, bringing a couple of other lakes into the fold for future dates. This would have to be what the majority wants.

We have always gone to Alum Creek in part, due to the fact that it offers deep water docks near the geographic center of the state. Please be mindful that our members travel from points throughout the state.

It's always great to have that kind of turnout. I'm already looking forward to this weekend. Hopefully the perch get a little bigger and the saugeye and crappie get a little more active. I'm feeling pretty optimistic about our chances. I'd love to see a busy weigh-in this week!

Alum Creek Dock Tournaments / Re: Alum Big Fish pot
« on: November 05, 2017, 10:22:00 AM »
With the current structure, any species may be weighed for big fish. It may be won with any species.

The saugeye pot is taken by the largest saugeye, but if the heaviest fish for the day is a catfish, it will take the big fish pot.

Example:

Crappie Pot: 3 fish weighed for 1.58 lbs. Winner- John Keirn
Saugeye Pot: 2.32 lbs. (Only one fish is weighed) Winner- Aaron Lewis
Big Fish: 3.34 lbs. Channel Catfish Winner- Bobby Green

A couple of places on Cheshire have pizza and Tv's. Dave and I are going to hang out for a while after weigh in. We'd like as many as possible to come and hang out for the game to support local businesses.

I think US 30 is the way to go as well.

Forecast now looks like good weather. I guess I'll be handing my money over to one of you after all.

Stupid question. When you catch something, do you need a basket to keep it in till weigh in? Or do we weigh as we go? And is this ice fishing gear, lures only or can people show up and throw crank baits etc?

Keep your fish in a bucket or on a stringer until weigh-in. Casting is not permitted, but long rods may be used. I have extra short rods and Vexilars if you'd like to try out some equipment.

The Buckeye game is set for 3:30. So we can fish and have the weigh in finished in time for kickoff over at the pizza place! The bad news is that the weather is going to be in my favor. Windy, rainy and cold have been friendly to me in the past!

I believe that's what he's talking about. I think as long as you're pulling up between drops in a new spot there no breech in the vertical presentation protocol. Dragging your lure around might as well just be a horizontal cast.

Yes, we fish them rain or shine.

Does it have to be a Newcastle batter?

My go to is 50/50 Shore Lunch Original and Shore Lunch Cajun. Just enough heat.

Did you see this Aaron?
