Auger runs but has no cutting power?
Would this be something with my carburetor?

Did you empty the fuel out at the end of last ice season? Sounds like something in the jet; allowing enough fuel thru to start and idle but not letting enough fuel thru at full throttle. May need to take carb apart and clean and blow out the jet and needle valve. I've had this with other small engines in the past. Easy to get fine dirt and debris in the fuel. :(

For what it's worth...I use aviation gasoline in my non fuel injection engines for storage. Aviation fuel is refined so pure is practically never goes bad. Once I bought a plane that hadn't flown in over 10 years, the tanks were full of 10+ year old gas. I flew it (after inspection of course) out and it ran absolutely flawless on that old gas.
Visit your local airport with a gas can and the operator will be happy to help you out.

Thanks for the tip Bryan!
Try shooting some carb cleaner in there and see if it helps. Sometimes that will free things up. Also try revving it up for a little bit with no load on it (not drilling).  Sometimes that will help also, but if that doesn't help you'll need to do what was mentioned above and disassemble the carb. Not as tough as you'd think to do. A parts washer or good blow gun will prove to be a help when doing this task.
