My dad has one on his fl-8. He said it makes a hudge difference in shallow water.
The first tip up that can be fished on ice and land.

S cable is for a fl8,just for shallow water.I use one in shallow water helps a lot.

I would imagine it would help.  I know if I forget to put my FL-18 in low power mode in shallow water I don't get as accurate a reading.
