Hit up a small private lake with my dad this morning. Got some nice gills, and he lost something really big by the hole (probably a bass). The ice was not near as good as Nimi was yesterday. Only 8" and the top 6 was hard slush. Hand auger went right thru it, and so did my foot near the shore. 4"of ice near shore caved in and my foot went in. The freeze thaw is really taking it's toll on the ice, especially near shore. The weekend rain isn't going to help. That 1.5 acre pond won't even be plankable by Monday.
