A buddy and myself tore the gills up this weekend. Came home with a 5 gal bucket full. Felt good. Most fish were 7-9 inches. A couple 10 inchers mixed in too. Mike

I have a question concerning ponds in commercial areas. I investigated one outside of my work here in Dublin Ohio. I was spudding through about 4-5 inches of ice and using my spud bar to determine how deep it was. Got deep quick as IT was 9 ft deep 9 ft away from shore. When my spud bar hit bottom, an offal sewage smell came up from the the hole and black water was dripping off my spud bar onto the ice when I brought it up. Is this a fishable pond or just some sewage drain run off that was landscaped and filled with water to look nice?

POND with FISH? or COMMERCIAL SEWAGE with DECAY? smells like the later

Did it have a Rotten Egg smell??? That's pretty common when you're dealing with a lot of Cat Tails. They break down into a pretty nasty, ultra-fine slurry that smells like you ate Huevos Rancheros for every meal on a 3 Day Pabst Blue Ribbon bender.
That smell???

Nice catch Mike but ponds don't count come down to the big lake with Dale and test your skills.!! Good job, got 20 gills and 8 crappies tonight cannot find a saugeye though did get into some nice white bass as well. Alum hopefully will survive the thaw 6-10 " ice up north 4-8 down south in coves.
