The lure is similar to a Jigging Rap or a Puppet Minnow with the single hook front and rear with a treble hook center bottom. The question I have is that I read somewhere that the front and rear hooks should be cut off to prevent snagging on the bottom of the hole. That leaves just one small treble hook on the bottom. Wouldn't snipping the front/rear hooks decrease hooking percentages ??? What do you guys do?? No ice, just questions ;)

Me neither.  I never want to remove a hook from my lure.  Decreases my chances of hooking a fish.  If I'm worried about hole snagging, which, by the way, has happened to me with single hook lures on big catfish in the past, I'll just guide the line with my hand when the fish is just below the ice.  After the lure is past the bottom of the hole you can lift him up on the ice.  Never lost a fish this way.

I think the reason you hear about people cutting hooks off is because some states restrict how many hooks you can have on one line. They normally cut the front hook off to get under the limit as it is the most likly hook to the ice and loose fish and they always snag up on yor gloves. I have never cut the hook off and as of now I dont plan on it. Also i normally tip the treble hook with 2 redmaggots and 1 white maggot.

i have lost fish with a hook snagging on the bottom of the hole but thats how fishing goes. the only time i will cut the front & rear hook off is if i attach a dropper where the treble hook is. on inland lakes i mainly use a single minnow head on the treble but on erie i load the treble with whole shiners.
