Noise and vibration

I've been watching a lot of ice fishing shows, and reading a lot of articles, and it seems to me the new "in thing" are these lip less crank baits, clacker rap, rippn shad,rippin rap,rattlin rap,etc. I've never tried these through the ice, Dave and I did talk to a few guys at Dunns pond on Indian lake a few years ago that said they were doing quit well on rattilin raps when everyone else was using vibes. I was wondering if anyone has tried these new revolution baits and if so have you had any luck on these? I will probably pick up a few and give em a chance, but I won't go hog wild and buy every color and size till I know for-sure how well they work. Any feed back would be appreciated.

Never used them thru the ice, but they are killer on the bass. I like to yoyo them back to the boat with a lift/drop retrieve. Same as in ice fishing. Good idea, I'll try that for eyes on Berlin this winter.

I meant to add that the best lipless crankbaits I've found for the lift/drop retrieve are the red eye shad from strike king. They make a rattling and a silent version that flutters as it falls, they're the only ones I've seen that don't just drop like a rock. I've got some great bass on the fall. My profile pic to the left of the screen is 2 bass that came on a red eye shad 45 minutes apart. One over 5 pounds, the other over 6.

There's a good article in the In-Fisherman Ice magazine on them. They pretty much list the same ones you just did. I'm also going to get a few of them. I bet you could ice some musky on them at Alum. Either that or draw them in to a live bait on a tip-up or another dead stick close to you.

Thats a good idea, there is a new 3/4 ounce size red eye shad that's a little larger and would be killer on the muskies I bet. Love to fish for the muskies, I'll be giving that a try!

lipless cranks are nothing new through the ice.

Think of them has a body baits.Like a Chubby Dater of Lindy Darter(may fav)They just don't have that swimming action of those two.It gives you a the presentation more like a blade bait but without the quick fall rate of a blade bait.

The fall rate is both a blessing and a curse. We want our lures to get to the fish as quickly as possible. These baits simply won't reach depth as quickly as a blade. But, there is something to be said for fishing a lure with so much attraction that lingers a bit longer in the strike zone.
