He took a lot of time with me going over ideas about the site. We all know that he is a great fisherman but he he is also a great guy. Thanks for joining us. I think the best way to do tonights chat is to ask questions one at a time. so if you have one just say question and when its your turn i will announce it.

2012-01-11 17:32:46   davidhoheisel   firefish please say question and we will take them in turn to help Jason
2012-01-11 17:32:50   Mitchell   Reeling up rattle baits fast for ten feet or so... drop a Salmo Zipper down and reel up to pull fish off the bottom.
2012-01-11 17:33:01   Mitchell   Powerful attractor
2012-01-11 17:33:38   davidhoheisel   freak had a question
2012-01-11 17:34:00   Mitchell   Every lake is different, some lakes dont have a day bite but you can extend the bite during the day by downsizing and making lots of small moves, fishing a lot of holes as the fish stop moving.  Some lakes have a good day bite, just depends.
2012-01-11 17:34:33   davidhoheisel   question,
2012-01-11 17:34:38   freakofnature13   very well said. and very makes logical sense.. its fishing thanks jason
2012-01-11 17:34:40   OldSailor   What other lures are hot and what colors
2012-01-11 17:35:26   Mitchell   color is a confidence thing, we come out with new colors because it is the easiest way to sell more lures, hot lures out here are Chubby Darters and Buckshot Rattle Spoons.
2012-01-11 17:35:31   crv423   can i go

2012-01-11 17:37:34   OldSailor   do you tip with bait and what do you use if you do
2012-01-11 17:37:38   freakofnature13   ;)
2012-01-11 17:37:47   davidhoheisel   Hey Chuck thanks for joining in. Tonight we have Jason Mitchell as a guest chatter.
2012-01-11 17:37:50   Mitchell   Depends, as a guide, I use the heaviest line I can get away with especially if walleys are around, on a tough bite in deep water, I sometomes have to use four or three but I like using heavier line... lifting fish out of the hole to my hand, etc.  all about effeciency.
2012-01-11 17:38:39   davidhoheisel   What is the name of your guide service and website
2012-01-11 17:38:40   Mitchell   For walleyes, we ofen tip lures with a fathead minnow head just for durability but some rattle and swim baits dont always need bait.
2012-01-11 17:38:52   Mitchell   For winter, go to www.perchpatrol.com
2012-01-11 17:39:14   davidhoheisel   whats the cost per day?
2012-01-11 17:39:26   Mitchell   $150 per person per day.
2012-01-11 17:40:03   mitch131   can i go
2012-01-11 17:40:09   davidhoheisel   are the big perch still in there?
2012-01-11 17:40:29   OldSailor   what lakes you fish
2012-01-11 17:40:36   Mitchell   Yes but we had better perch fishing in the 80s, we still see some two pound fish and we still get on good bites.
2012-01-11 17:40:44   coreymon   question
2012-01-11 17:40:55   davidhoheisel   go ahead corey

2012-01-11 17:42:24   firefish532   question
2012-01-11 17:43:11   davidhoheisel   go ahead
2012-01-11 17:43:37   firefish532   As you know our lakes are shallow what is your best way of finding eyes in shallow
2012-01-11 17:43:40   Mitchell   On lakes with lots of structure, I look for flats.. on lakes with no structure, I look for what structure is around.  On clear water lakes, I like to start around weeds.  I always start looking shallow during low light, general rules of thumb but a phone call can change everything so make sure you network.
2012-01-11 17:44:20   g   question
2012-01-11 17:44:20   davidhoheisel   what station is your show and what time does it air?
2012-01-11 17:44:25   Mitchell   Shallow, focus on prime times if morning and evening are better... fish alone or keep your mouth shut as shallow fish dont handle pressure as well.
2012-01-11 17:44:29   davidhoheisel   go ahead g

2012-01-11 18:01:12   Mitchell   I like the durability and convenience of plastics
2012-01-11 18:01:14   davidhoheisel   go ahead
2012-01-11 18:01:34   HardWaterJunkie   question
2012-01-11 18:01:40   1977walleyeguy   question
2012-01-11 18:02:05   davidhoheisel   if you have a follow question to a question feel free to ask.
2012-01-11 18:02:10   HardWaterJunkie   what are your favorite plastics?
2012-01-11 18:02:27   1977walleyeguy   do you have a go to plastic?
2012-01-11 18:02:28   Mitchell   I like the Little Atom, Northland Tackle Impulse and Makki
2012-01-11 18:02:50   crv423   do you use tip ups alot and do u use them 4 scoutn
2012-01-11 18:03:10   Mitchell   Not really, for panfish, I like long slender tails that really dance, I am not a big fan of the creature style baits.  Makki has poured me some longer tails that I use for walleye.
2012-01-11 18:03:50   Mitchell   I do use tip ups some but only after I know I am going to be in a spot for the long haul.  When I want to camp on a spot, I will use them
2012-01-11 18:04:14   davidhoheisel   who is next?
2012-01-11 18:04:20   g   question
2012-01-11 18:04:23   crv423   chubs or shinners
2012-01-11 18:04:31   davidhoheisel   go ahead
2012-01-11 18:04:50   g   what are the perch & walleye daily limits
2012-01-11 18:05:14   Mitchell   Overall, I like chubs the best.  I know this sounds crazy but I like the salted shiners better than live shiners just for tipping spoons, swimbaits.  I like the durability and action of chubs when using tip ups.
