Ice Safety!!! / Re: Cleats/Spikes

I used the cheap ones for years and constantly cussed them. Finally invested in Kahtulas(spelling?), they are pricey but worth every penny I paid for them(Microspikes). I won't use anything else. :)

Inventions / Re: Dirt auger power head
« on: October 04, 2015, 07:03:24 AM »
I have an Earthquake dirt auger powerhead I used for my business; this is the same head that is on the older Eskimo power ice augers. You can order their ice bit for it. I have a 10" ice auger bit for mine. Dirt work in the summer and ice auger in the winter. One power head and multiple auger bits. A little on the heavy side, but power's thru 20" of ice with no problem. The auger bits I have, all match up perfectly with no modifications. ;D

Nettle lake / 2/21/15
« on: February 21, 2015, 05:44:31 PM »
Fished Nettle today from 8:30am to 1:00pm. Got there before the snow started. Fished in 19 FOW. Water stained but the crappie were biting until about 10:30 after it started snowing. Fish were suspended at 9' to 11', aggressive jigging and playing keep away triggered the bites. Black 5mm tungsten jig with 3 spikes. Nothing on dead stick with minnows. Kept 9 from 10 to 11-1/2", lost 4 at the hole. One really large one 1/2 up the hole. 5 throw backs, no whisker fish or gills. Glad I brought the gas auger as ice was 14" thick, should've just drove my truck out. Very little snow on ice when I got there and maybe an inch when I left. :)

Classifieds / Re: Military Cold Weather Mickey Mouse Boots
« on: February 17, 2015, 05:33:25 PM »
I was stationed at Ft. Wainwright, Alaska in Fairbanks and was issued the white Bunny boots. They worked well with a light pair of wool socks for me. People have a tendency to wear too heavy a pair of socks and their feet sweat from walking. Once your socks are wet, your feet will get cold just sitting with your feet on the ice.

I now wear Baffin's. They are awesome, expensive at $275.00/pair but worth every penny. You have to order about 2 sizes larger than you normally wear and I only wear a pair of polypro liners in them. :)

I'll be there all 3 days helping out also and doing the Cub Scout Fishing belt loop seminars.

Hope to see plenty of IFO members there so I can put a face to the names. That may not be a great idea after all ;D

I'm sure it will be a great time and show. Looking forward to adding new IFO members....

If you're talking Harrison Lake State Park between West Unity and Fayette, the only place with minnows, mousies, wax, spikes, etc. is Williams County Outdoor Supply in Pulaski.  419-636-6477
