Just make sure you have the right safety equipment. Before getting out there on the ice. Look for some ice safety videos on you tube.
My safety tools
Ice spikes ( to pull your self out if fall through ice)
Spud bar to check ice when walking out on ice
Ice spike for your shoes
Rope  I have 60 ft  in my ice shantie evey time I go out ( in case others fall through the ice )

I carry 8 in my bag.1 ultra light, 2 light.3 med, 1 quick tip and a heavy rod. you never know what your getting into until get on the ice. I like to be ready for anything.

Friday night I was at Indian Lake mound wood channel with my boot spikes on made it easy to get around. Going out today before we loose the ice. Be safe if going out today still have 6~7 inches of ice.

I fishing at entrance of mound wood last night. 6~7 inches  duns pond the Sam . Caught couple slabs at the pond . Just be safe at all yimes

I mounted some old snow skis under my frabil hut. Pulls like dream. I also put a longer rope that also helped. The skis keep it on top of the snow. I used a 2x2 between the sled and skis.
