I still have safe ice as off today, 2/9/25. Fishing has been slow with lots of nibbles from dink gills. Bait stealers mostly. I have been using the smallest tungsten jigs with 1/2 of a waxie and still don't get many hooksets. Crafty little rascals!

I have been catching a lot of small crappies, gills, and bass the last 4 days. Hoping to get out on Wednesday. Ice is 7-8 inches thick, so we may get another week of fishing in.

I am in the Union county area and we have good ice. Caught fish in every hole Saturday, but then it died down. I had to move to find the fish. Caught 1 decent crappie plus smaller ones, small gills and several largemouths. Biggest bass was 12". Ice as of today is 4 inches, probably 5 on my pond.

Only 3 inches on my 1/2 acre pond, but it felt solid. Going to a larger lake today and see how thick it is.

Nice! It?s going to be on for a while now!
This weekend should be great everywhere. I will be going to West Mansfield conservation club lake tomorrow. Today, besides this bass, I caught a lot of small gills and had a big takedown and when I set the hook, it broke the 4 lb line. I love the ice hopper inline reel with a line guide and trigger drop!

I broke the ice.....pun intended. 10 inch gill. I got bit all day but only about 5 hooksets. Must have been a lot of dinks down there. Used a very small jig.

I too am wondering if the snow might blanket the ice and keep it from getting thick enough. My little pond is at 2 inches as of Sunday, 1/5/25. I hope to get out this Thursday thru Sunday and maybe beyond.

Hard to believe about Indian Lake. My ice is only a little over 2 inches even after a cold night last night. I just cannot enjoy fishing when it isn't at least 4 inches. I bought a new Ice Hopper trigger drop reel that I really want to use this year!

I just drilled a test hole on my pond today. Only 2 inches so far. Maybe this weekend I'll have 4 inches.

New PB for me. 18 inches on a small tungsten jig tipped with a waxie. Caught on a Clam ice team ultra-light rod with an Eagle Claw in-line reel. Quite a battle taking drag with several runs. I was so afraid that the 4 lb line would break!

Today, Saturday was slower action than Wednesday, but I still caught a few. Lots of small fish so far this year. Tuesday may be the last day for a while.

I ended yesterday with more small gills than I could count, 1 perch and 2 bass. One bass was about 13 inches. I will be out this weekend for sure. Good luck and stay safe out there.

Gone fishin' not just a wishin'. 4 inches thick on my 1/2 acre pond. Getting bit on almost every drop with a tiny tungsten jig and waxie. Lost a real nice bass at the hole.
