Looks more like a shell cracker (redear) and they get huge in warmer climates

not a redear or a shell cracker (a shell cracker is a hybrid more commonly known as a warmouth bluegill, theyre called shell crackers bc they eat shell fish and freshwater snails). regardless of whether its photoshopped or not that is a genuine bluegill. look at the blue spot on the gills and the faint stripes down its side... thats a bluegill alright!

Yea it's a redear but real. 5.78-pound 17-inch redear sunfish from Arizona’s Lake Havasu. They took it to bass pro shops in Arizona to be measured. Arizona wildlife says it real and will get a world record from the IGA. Arizona wildlife officers think there are lots more like the in the lake.

Wow!!! I thought my 2 pounder was big.  I can't imagine the fight a 6 pound gill would put up!!!!
