Don't know anything yet.  I might try in the evening on Thursday 1-8-2015.  Probably @ Long Island for gills, crappie and perch in the pads.

Walleyeguy lives on the water at long island and said he had his boat out over the weekend. He told me it was locked up with about 1" of good ice today. I've also seen post on here and elsewhere of anywhere from 2.5" to 5" over the weekend.

Please everyone check your own ice! Ice is going to be spotty bc some melted off and some held on Thru the storms. Please keep your spud ready and use it would hate to hear of ppl going thru. My guess would be by the weekend most of Indian should be ok but please check.

I'm thinking about heading up to Indian Lake Saturday morning for my first time ice fishing.  Unfortunately my ice fishing partner bailed on me this weekend. I'm still thinking about going but I want to make sure there are a few people are around. Does everyone head all the way out on Long Island or is there a place before the bridge to park.  I've read the blogs and it looks like Long Island is where most everyone goes and I will not go out on the ice by myself.

Tanker, if there is good ice then there will be people all over Long Island, so much so that its usually hard to find a parking spot. Watch yourself around the bridge, there is a current there and ice usually isn't good near the bridge on both sides of it.

Thanks for the info.  I've checked several maps and figured that area was mostly off limits anyways especially until I get a better understanding of moving on the ice.  I drove out there right after Christmas and saw there wasn't a lot of room to park on LI.
