I heard wind is a factor on lake erie. What is best to fish in. Never been there but planning trip up hopefully saturday. Any advice would help. Concern safety and where walleye biting? Thanks

West or SW wind is best for catching fish most times.

North or NE is best for safety.  This will keep you moving towards shore if an iceberg you are fishing on happens to break free, if the Ohio shore if is where you parked.  South or SW winds tend to open up the cracks and make crossing them dangerous.

Good luck and be safe if you go.  Take a compass/GPS.
