Lots of help here my friend, also might want to consider the pan fish tournament here in the N.E.! It's a great way to meet fellow iceman and learn while having fun. Information can be found under the tournament section.

When I get up that way you are more than welcome to tag along. Or if you like to travel come down to the dock tournaments and you can get a idea before the cold weather.

I'm always out on the ice too. I live in Canton, but fish Akron area often. If be willing to show you around a bit as well. But be warned, once you start, your gear will end up looking like Nate's, Rick's, and mine. In other words, you'll never stop buying ice gear!  ;D

The dock tournaments are at alum creek. We fish 25' of water and you will have a blast. It is just off 71 near Delaware.

If you are like the rest of us, once you start hardwater fishing you will be addicted. The best piece of equipment you need is a depth finder. Once you see if you enjoy ice fishing, plan on buying a depth finder. It makes the world of difference in your success rate. Hope to see you at the dock tourneys. If Dave has them, they will start in Oct.

I think the first tournament is the first weekend of November. If they are Sunday, it would be on the 1st. Dave mentioned that he plans on putting them on again this year.

My bad. If dave has them they will start in Nov. Can't fish from the docks until then. Have to wait until all the boats are pulled and they have to be pulled by Oct.31. Hope Dave puts them on again.

Welcome dgr!  I am sure you will find someone nearby to show you the basics.  I could show you how to ice fish, it is the catching part I have the most trouble doing!
