Ok, so I spoke with ODNR and Summit Metroparks. They are making repairs to the spillway. They expect the water levels to stay where they are right now throughout the winter. It will not drop any lower, but they don’t expect it to rise up before ice out. So it won’t pose a safety threat with air gaps and falling water, but some of our favorite early ice spots may be unfishable this year.

But ice fishing will still be allowed on the lake. Just as always exercise caution and check conditions for yourself as you go out.
