Talked to a guy that fished Long Island today. He said only place he fished was on the right side along the seawall. He said they caught about 100 fish but only about 10 keepers. Rest were 3-5" gills. No one ventured any further on the ice.

CRV was out at Long Island and caught some panfish and perch with only 4 keepers. The ice was deteriating very badly and it is not safe now.

I knew it wasn't gonna be completely safe when I started out, but I figured I'd try,( not the smartest move). The ice was a good 3 1/2 to 4 when I went out, good clear ice. By the time we left the ice was diminishing, the spud was going threw in one hit. All the snow melted and there was water on all the ice, talk about a puckered butt. I did managed to catch four keeper gills and one perch, not worth the risk though, caught alot of dinks and one small cat. Team mac caught two of the smallest perch I have ever seen, as Andrew said they don't come out of the egg sack that small, I'll try to get the pics of the monster perch off of my phone for all to see.

Soooo? ? So do you think the wind we're getting with this snow will blow some off the ice? With cold nights predicted for Mon. - Thurs., I'd think it would firm back up if there's no big snow pack. Maybe by this Thrus.-Fri. for better ice??? what do you think? Love to get that early ice!

I think it will depend on how much snow is on the ice. It could insulate the ice or make white is which is not safe. I am sure firefish, Russ, and Ratherbe and Team Mac will keep us posted.
Stay Safe. We will be on it soon.

Im not so sure about the ice now... I fished Lima Lake the other night.. SKETCHY! and actually just got back from fishing it tonight 12/13 and it may as well be water.. 3 layers of nasty ice.. its in bad shape. Am thinking of going to Indian here in a few minutes though.. Will keep posted.
