Just got the 411 from some guys I fish with and they advised Long Island are has 1 inch of ice in some area's but some area's have open water still waiting but weds I will check again and post but I am thinking maybe friday it will be better so I will post when I know if I have you in my cell I will call with reports

I can confirm...  I went to Long Island and walked out about 25 yards. right off the road there is a good 1 1/2 in I actually fished for a few minutes just because I was there. Ice is not safe now, but by this weekend should have several good inches. open water about 75 yards out, northfork is closing up, if the wind lays down the ice will form all the way across. im going back fri to fish long island.

This is GREAT news. I just looked at the 10 day forecast and we are going to be icefishing around the same time as last year for first ice (Dec 16th). I said that we needed it sto get real cold and stay that way for a while....  and it did! Great turn of events.

CRV hey the ice at long Island at the first pull off is 2 1/2 inches and getting more every day should be 3 1/2 to 4 by the weekend
