So whos with me. We all talked about going last year but we never got the chance to do it, seemed like something always got in the way of us getting together. So who wants to get together this year and ice some fish. I would like to try and target some eyes and perch, and some bullgills!!!

I'm in!  It's not much further than Indian is for me.
I don't know the lake at all but from some of the things I have read it's worth checking out.

I'll be over there thats my home ice lake. Always do good on crappie and eyes there. We'll have to hook up when/if the ice gets here.

I’m in for sure! My schedule is a little more predictable now than it was last year.

I fished it maybe 5-6 times last year. If you can get to the island area reefs it’s amazing. We stayed on the ice for 12 hours one day in February because the fishing was so good. As for the reefs close to the ramp I haven’t had too much luck.

How is the fishing at the ponds that are near it?
I bet we get some ice by this weekend if it doesn't get all that warm during the days later this week.

I fished 33 last year the bluegills are good size, however someone told me that they have a parasite or something.

yep, the gills do have a parasite. i forget the technical name, but basically it is tranfered from herons to snails to fish...bck to herons..lol
parasite makes the flesh look like you had taken a pepper shaker to it and if your really lucky you can see a white larvae crawl out of it as well.

I would like to raise everyone's awareness too the 10 bluegill,10 crappie limit that applies to all waters at killdeer including reservoir.

I must make a correction, pond 30 is the one that i know for fact that the gill population carries the parasite. I have not kept any from pond 33 since they drained it and restocked it a few yrs ago.

As far as perch goes, the regs call out all sunfish species in site specific regs. Do not know if they classify perch in that group.

Would be worth a 5 min conversation with the district 2 office to find out.
