There is a nationally known ice fishing forum that I am a member of, as well as IOF. Some of you may be also. The reason for this post is that the site had a problem with a trojan virus caused by third party ads through Google. The reason for my post, and I discussed this with David via PM, is that no one should be on the internet without good antivirus protection along with a good popup blocker. The virus was : 2012 Vista Antivirus.  You can look it up and check it out. They believe that the virus has been contained on the other website, but this can happen no matter where you visit if you surf unprotected.
There are many free antivirus program that are yours for the down loading. I highly recommend AVG. I have a purchased version and like it. It just has more features is all. PLEASE get protected if you don't already have something, and run a scan at least weekly!! Those viruses can be a bear to get rid of once they get into your computer!!
Enough of this! Bring on the Ice!! Safe ice fishing and safe surfing! Anyone curious which website this was about can PM me. Thanks David!! Happy New Year!!! ;)

Good Point.

Just to clarify that IFO site is safe and the virus was on another site.

You can click on the google ads on this site.

It is alway's a good idea to have your computer protected with a anti virus like old Sailor suggested.

Thanks for the heads up.

Hope we get it. 10 day forecast has 2 days cold and then  warming back up again! I have to keep reminding myself that people in many parts of the country, even up in Canada, have this also!! I had so hoped for some ice over the holidays! I'm "Dad's Taxi" during the week, so I can only get out on weekends. There are a couple of ponds I could hit during the day if it ever freezes!!  :(

Thanks for the heads up.  Just got a virus removed from my computer a monthago and it sucked!  Without my computer for a week.  Felt lost....especially with no ice!

Just a follow-up on turkeyneck's post: Microsoft security essentials is definitely a good way to go. I work in IT in a corporate environment but at home I always use mse. Microsoft does a grreat job of keeping it up to date.

I have AVG 2012 and they are good about updates also. There are many good ones out there, but none of them do you any good unless they are installed and used!! ;)
