A Season Without Ice?

I've known ice fishing seasons where Lake Erie didn't freeze, but I've never known an Ohio Ice Fishing Season with unsafe inland lake ice making the season a complete zero.

I've experienced short and long ice seasons, but none like the one were into now.

Does anybody recall such a occurrence where we were unable to ice fish inland Ohio lakes?

No, I do not.  I remember a couple of years where we only had 2 or 3 weeks of safe ice, but never no ice.  I think we'll get at least 2 weeks of good ice in Feb.

when was the last time there was no ice fishing on lake erie for an entire season?

Year before last corey was nearly non-existant. Happens all the time for erie, its surprising for inland.

Believe it or not, history shows, in general, your even years are normally less "icy" than the odds on erie

I have lived on SBI for ten years. It has been six since I couldn't fish the ice. We did however fish in boats. The fish hang in the same spots.

I'm REALLY toying with the idea of taking my rowboat out between MBI and Sugar...I'm going nuts!!

Pretty mellow compared to South Bass, that's Disney World for alchoholics!
Our marina is always full and there is lots of eye candy at the two bars, each summer it gets busier and busier!

I saw 3 boats fishin off mouse isl tues.I was up chkn on things.We get em rt after ice out why not now wthr permiting,fish where youre shanty would be.
