Long time ago I watched a guy in a canoe, paddle around the very thick weed beds off Palm Road. I watched as this guy dipped a pole in the open holes off the vegetation. He would pick 1 to 2 big stud gills out of each open pocket and then paddle on to the next. He would lift up his fish basket to put another gill in and it was half full of them! I talked to a buddy of mine that fished Palm Road when it first froze one season. He said it was one big gill after another. He had to move around alot and drill several holes to get them also. I wonder if there is a deep spot in those back waters to just hunker down and fish. Maybe a creek channel of some sort you could set up a shanty adjacent to the thick weed beds and pull giant gills from.
