I was just curious as to what type of ice fishing line you use for panfish and why.  Seems like the braided freezes up quicker when I have used it.  Also has anyone tried those new flywheels?

I am going to try braid this winter on my saugeye poles. I will see how the cold affects it.

I really do like McCoy's ice fishing line. It is a co-polymer so it has low stretch and is very strong.

I tried braided and it froze up like crazy outdoors.  In a shanty it may work fine.

I spooled up with Berkely MicroIce.  I used a 3lbs for my gill rod and 4lbs for my jigging rod.

Last year I spooled two new rods with braid.  My panfish rod with 2lb stren, and a walleye/pike rod with 8lb test.  I don't remember which brand the 8lb was though.  Either way, none of my gear saw ice last year.

Do not buy BPS Bionic or the Berkly Nanofil- too loose slips off of spinning reels. I go with McCoy and Suffix (the ice fishing kind) Cajun line is cool too.

In my experience, all braided line will slip off the reel if you don't use a mono line as a backing.
