I remember the conversation as if it were yesterday. Ficious, or as I call him, Harry, was preparing for the upcoming ice fishing season in Michigan and invited me over to help him sort out jigs, rig lines, etc. It was October- it was cold and Harry is out in nothing but a T Shirt and jeans. He says he runs hot but that regardless, wearing lighter layers in October will help your body adapt to the cooler tempatures and allow you to be more comfortable on the ice.
T Shirts in October has been something I have preached ever since then. Although I type this in a sweater

For those who can pull it off- the rewards are a more comfortable day on the bucket.
As for me, my temperature prep involves buying more propane canisters for my portable heater
