Fished indian today on 3.5 to 5 inches of ice. The ice under snow was only 2" ( stay far away from snowy area) talked to a guy who said in the past 2 days he saw 4 guys go through. Fishn was decent caught 2 gills 2 white bass 5 shad and 2 eyes, lost 2 nice eyes at the hole and missed a dozen good bites. eyes were caught in 5.5ft of water on pimples and raps fished with minnow head, caught fish and had quite a few hits on jaw jackers with jig and minnow. Seemed to me the fish didn't want alot of action.

glad you didn't join the polar bear club chris. did you fish out at by the lake or stay in the channel ? if i don't get to deer hunt in indiana this weekend, i'll be at indian sat. & sun. stay safe.

Instead of a jig ,use a #8 treble hook and a split shot on the. Jaw jacket ,you'll hook more fish.

I'll have to double check but I beleive it is illeagal to use trebbles on tip ups, I know it is for jug and shore line fishing.

Quickstrike rigs are legal and there's two treble hooks on them.

I saw nothing in the regs on odnr under ice fishing that says you cant use a treble hook on your tip ups.
