was that at the second pull off?? I was at the first pull off today, ( 10:30 - 1:45 and never saw any holes??  I might add that by the time we left, the surface snow was melting very fast and the amount of water on top of the 2.5" of ice was about 1" deep in spots so we scedaddled out of there but many more were still ariving as we left. we caught 15-16 gills between us and maybe 3 keepers in the batch.  Spikes outfished waxies about 4 to 1 today.  We seemed to have been doing as well as anyone else out there that we coud see, lots of smaller fish caught, 1 small perch and no crappies that we heard of.  Its officially over.....

Glad your ok and we were in pucker mode all day....LOL
A whole lot more cracking on the way out then was on the way in....

General Discussion / Re: troy oh question

Curtis, the Great Miami runs through Troy, Not the Little Miami, FYI.

There is pretty good fishing up that way for smallies, rock bass, saugeyes and the occaisional Northern Pike

The Little Miami starts above Clifton and runs straight south through Yellow Springs, Xenia, Beavercreek, Bellbrook, Waynesville, Morrow, and through Cinci to the Ohio river

Kiser Lake State Park / Re: Gills gone wild
« on: January 06, 2013, 06:30:11 PM »
Good deal, we and about 30 others struggled all day yesterday at Kiser including fishing fairly close to where you were. nobody hardly caught anything worth anything, we ended up with 2 nice perch around 10" and a gill and a 12" LMB.   So then today fished a Eastern Indiana lake and about 50 different folks managed a handful of fish again, everyone wondering where they went since 2 days ago the entire lake was on fire. I hate when the fish get into there moods...

Good report, thanks

General Discussion / Forum suggestion...

David, any chance we could add a forum for each section of the state such as "SW Ohio Reports" and "Central Ohio Reports" etc to capture all the reports that are NOT on public lakes, we have many local park ponds and places that locals can post about with ice thicknesses there, For example I was on a private pond today but it its location in the SW area might help others know what to expect in the same area, also we have several park ponds that always freeze first in the area and Id love to know if anyone has been out on them yet.. Just an idea.

Indian Lake / Re: Ice at Indian
« on: December 30, 2012, 02:56:41 PM »
LOL, yeah we fished the small spot ( about 1 acre in size) with about 60 other folks and manageds some decent gills, a small bass and a small perch between me, Tin Guppy and his buddy Steve.  I was supprised all those folks on the ice didnt submerge the whole area...LOL barely 3" and top 1/2" was crusty.  I agree it wasnt barely worth the effort to fish 2.5 Ft of water, wait another 3-4 days and I bet a whole lot of the rest of the lake will be fishable.  BTW someone went through on their way off the ice this afternoon. Right as we were driving out.

well we ( Tin Guppy and his buddy Steve and myself) checked several places, some local ponds, Kiser and Indian at Moundwood, nada....then made our way over to Long Island and the secret was out, at least 60 folks out on about a 1 acre area, LOL caught a few gills and small bass and perch but nothing to write homabout. Ice was about 3" in that small area and as we left, some idiot walked through a soft slushy spot versus the trail everyone was using around the soft mushy spot and he went through about 30 ft from the road, Duhhh, of course it was all of about 2 ft deep there so no real problem and hoardes of folks around, hell I had to park about 400 yards from the entrance. The rest of the lake is still 1-2" at best so it will be at least several more days with the slushy snow coating on top of the ice, it was grey ice everywhere so things should be much better by next weekend so keep watching the reports and please stay safe....

General Discussion / Re: December Dock Tournament Schedule at Alum
« on: December 16, 2012, 12:34:57 PM »
I think the final number was 18 guys! a great turnout, fishing was decent early and then started to crap out mid tourney but at least for me picked up late, I ended up with 11 keeper crappies and several folks I saw had at least that many keepers as well, I think at least 3 saugeyes were weighed in with the winning fish around 18" Im guessing, a nice fish!
