IceFishOhio.com wants you to enjoy the sport of Ice fishing but you must be aware of the risks.

Here is a video that could save your life.

http://youtu.be/ysnKtuUTt8k

Here are a few things to remember:

1. Never assume the Ice is safe. First Ice and late Ice are very dangeroues.
2. Always check the Ice with a spud bar every couple of feet.
3. Never fish alone.
4. When in doubt don't go out.
5. Carry at least 50 ft of rope attached to something that floats and can be thrown to someone in the water.
6. Carry an extra set of warm clothing to change into.

Please feel free to ad anything else that can save our lives on the Ice.

Wow! what a heck of a video. I've often taken the risk of fishing alone because all my fishing buddies live about 45 min away. But after watching that, I'm going to think twice about going out on some of the ice I've been going out on. I guess I should invest in a pair of those Ice studs used for pulling yourself out, should that happen. Do you use them, if so which ones would you reccomend?

Excellent video, used to help train USN aircrew in cold water survival. The ice studs ("cat`s claws") have saved countless lives over the yrs; if you don`t have them INVEST in a pair! Also STRONGLY recommend a "space blanket", very small compact plastic sheet 6X6` with very tough aluminum foil to wrap a victim in...

Since Ice picks are mentioned, particularly the stick into each other orange ones I pass this on.. I had a pair of those, didnt use um a couple of years... it took a few squirts of WD40 and a screwdriver to pry um apart. Glad I found that while I was on top. Check um and grease um! Or buy the spring retractable ones. (Idid). Stay on top.
