Is there a big difference in forsay a frabill rod and a more expensive rod (actions vary) or is it a personal preferance?

Well said guys. Ive been at it for 5 years now and its a great time to spend with a buddy and clear ur thoughts. Im a die hard bow hunter and thought there was nothin more mind clearing and enjoyable than that. I was wrong. thanks to my father-in-law, he introduced me to the sport and was hooked from there on. Ive met alot of new people and learned alot. I hope all the new commers feel the same as i do, and did when i first started. Great post.

As much as i love to ice fish like the rest of u, with the weather as it is, if I cant get on the ice I the only thing i can think about is slamming the panfish on the little boat with the ice rods. alot more fun than what it sounds. Crappie, gills, what have u, I can hear them now bouncing around the cooler waitn to b cut cookd and in my tummy... Mmmmm. For our sake I hope we get a third round of ice. would b nice.

From my experience fish especially gills get very finekie so you will prob need to change ur presentation some. line lb test, bait, the way u tie ur jig on may not look tempting to them. Whats ur set up consist of. My father-in-laws pond is like that so i changed my line from 2lb to 1lb ind started using micro jigs baited with 1 red and 1 white moggot. color tends to help. alot is trial and error thats what i love bout iceing, always a new challenge where ever u go and each day may or may not be the same.

I had 2 to 3 inches of ice at the boat ramp. didnt walk off concrete steps due to being by myself. all iced covered and clear. ice is on the soft side due to windy conditions early in the week. maybe thick and hard by the weekend. hopefully. be careful
